Situated in the heart of Santa Ana, La Super Birria stands out as an authentic gem specializing in Mexican and taco cuisine, with a particular spotlight on traditional birria. From the moment you step inside this vibrant eatery located at 1041 W 1st St, you’re embraced by an atmosphere that effortlessly blends warm, familial hospitality with an inviting, lively vibe. The decor, complemented by music videos playing in the background, enhances the dining experience, crafting a space where every visit feels like a joyous gathering with loved ones in Mexico.
La Super Birria’s menu reads like a love letter to Mexican comfort food, especially their signature birria creations. Dishes such as the Birria Tour and Classic Plate De Birria showcase expertly tender meat, slow-cooked to perfection and infused with rich, fragrant spices that sing in every bite. Their Quesa Taco and Taco Dorado offer a crispy, cheesy contrast that beautifully complements the deep flavors of the birria.
One can’t talk about La Super Birria without mentioning their homemade tortillas, which elevate every taco and plate — their soft, warm texture and slightly charred edges are a testament to genuine craftsmanship. The Tacos De Birria and Birria Taco are standout items, brimming with juicy, spiced carne that pairs impeccably with their rich, hearty consommé — so flavorful that one reviewer even confessed they could sip it solo. For those who love to explore a little of everything, the Tour Plate offers a perfect sampling, ensuring your palate experiences the full spectrum of birria’s delicious possibilities.
Beyond savory dishes, La Super Birria also delights with their thoughtfully curated drinks menu. Refreshing aguas frescas in flavors like jamaica, piña, limón, and horchata, alongside classic beverages like Coca-Cola and energy drinks, provide the perfect balance to the meal’s rich flavors. To satisfy your sweet tooth, don’t miss their Mexican desserts like flan and jericalla — a creamy, comforting indulgence that rounds off the meal beautifully.
Customer experiences repeatedly emphasize not just the exceptional flavor but also the genuine warmth of the staff. As Maggie Ortiz shared, the “friendly and attentive” service only adds to the overall appeal, making you feel like part of a culinary family. Brian Bonilla’s praise of the atmosphere and “authentic birria” underscores La Super Birria’s commitment to quality and cultural authenticity. Blanca Martinez’s vivid recount of being transported to Mexico through both the food and atmosphere speaks volumes about the immersive experience they offer.
Though some visitors like Rojo Diablo noted that service can occasionally run slow and that the ATM machine is no longer on-site, these minor drawbacks hardly overshadow the genuinely memorable dining experience La Super Birria delivers.
For anyone craving the rich, spicy depth of true Mexican birria paired with handmade tortillas and a welcoming space that feels like home, La Super Birria is a must-visit destination in Santa Ana. It’s a place where flavors and culture come alive with every bite, leaving you eager for your next delicious visit — whether to enjoy their current outstanding offerings or to be among the first to sample the exciting ice cream treats they plan to introduce soon.
La Super Birria was extremely delicious. We had the quesobirria tacos and torta. Atmosphere was very friendly and attentive to us. The Birria was very flavorful and with all the right spices. We plan on going back for more and looking forward to trying their ice cream they will be offering soon.
Food was great. Service was slow. Atmosphere is pretty cool. No longer has an atm machine inside in case you're looking for one.
Awesome atmosphere with music videos and so much to catch your eyes inside authentic birria is so so good. The consume is so good that it could be drunk alone. Try the sample plate so you could try a little of everything if it's your first time. Next time I'm in Cali I will be coming back for sure.
The food was outstanding! Upon entering the establishment you are taken back to eating with family in Mexico. The atmosphere, friendliness and attentive staff transport you to Mexico! Food: we ordered tacos de Lengua, birrea classica, and quesobirrea tacos. Drinks: Horchata. The home made tortillas are yummy!!!! Come with family and friends. The food is so great! The only draw back, couldn’t bring our furry son, lol. For context, my family is from Zacatecas and we brought our 13 year old daughter.
